Hello, dear visitor of this former monastery park

Dear visitor, welcome to our pages! THE ABBEY GARDEN History of origins Welcome to the Abbey Garden Park ! From the 14th to the 19th century, parts of the park of the former free imperial abbey of Kornelimünster were located here. At the time, before 1415, this part of the park was the abbey grain mill. After the abbey was dissolved by Napoleon (1802), it was turned into a textile mill, a so-called fulling mill, which was supplied with water via the old mill ditch. The pond was created at the end of the 19th century. After the mill closed at the end of the 1960s, the site became a rubbish dump. In 1997, the site was added to the list of industrial monuments worthy of protection in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. From 1998 onwards, the walls were renovated and the green spaces restored. The park was opened to the public on 17 August 2002. Friends of the Abbey Garden Kornelimünster e.V. (registered association)
